The Life and art of Jason Harmon I am the 2nd of 12 children born to Alma and Laurie Harmon. From an early age I learned to work hard alongside my father. He taught me the art of creativity through construction work. When I was in 4th grade I was fortunate to start taking art lessons from Kathy Hamblin. She opened my eyes to worlds of creativity and helped me to gain confidence as an artist. Then in 6th and 7th grades as my art teacher she continued to tutor me. I loved art and devoted much time to it all through middle and high school. My high school art teacher, Mrs. Tara Taylor expected a lot out of me, and helped me to achieve new realms of accomplishment including best of show in several art shows, many ribbons at our state art competition, and an art scholarship as a Senior in high school.
I knew that I wanted art to be an integral part of my life, so after a semester at BYU and a two year mission in Quito, Ecuador, I had big decisions to make. At first I thought I would do art on the side and get a business degree, but with much thought and prayer I knew that I needed to pursue a degree in Illustration and Art Education. This has been the course that I have taken the since 2007. I was married in July of 2007 to Tally Stock, and in August of 2008 we were blessed with our little daughter Isa. If you pay attention to my art you will see that she comes out often in my pieces. I studied with many great artists during my college years including Joseph Brickey, Guy Francis, Richard Hull, Robert Barrett, Gregg Newbold, and so many others. I graduated with a BFA in Illustration and k-12 art education degree in the spring of 2011. Currently my family and I reside in Guernsey, Wyoming. My daughter Isa is 5 and just finished kindergarten, my son Parley is 2, and my daughter Talita is 4 months old. I hope you find some inspiration in my art, and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! |
Art is a passion for me. When I see beautiful art it awakens something special deep within my soul. My desire is to create art that will inspire and bring out the best in people. I wish to help people to understand truth, love, and the importance of family relationships. I wish to awaken a desire in others to be a little better, to try a little harder, and to be dedicated to what matters most in their lives. This world and all of Gods creations are so beautiful. My hope is that my paintings help you find beauty in the small things in life. |
